Note: If you are not using the transaction-based space features, you can use this method to calculate chargeback.
Once a space inventory -- composed of groups (departmental areas on a floor), rooms, or a mixture of both -- is developed and rooms and groups are associated with departments, facility managers can add cost information to this data and charge departments for the space they occupy based on each group's and room's departmental assignment.
In order to charge departments for their rooms and groups, the facility manager must extend the basic inventory data by entering cost of space per square foot, designating common areas, and running the chargeback calculations.
