In paginated reports, a child band shows the main information of a view, and is controlled by a parent table that determines how the child table's data is displayed. For example, in a "Rooms by Department" view, the Rooms table plays the child role since this view shows rooms grouped by the department they are assigned to. Within one view, multiple tables can play the child role. In a view with only one table, that table plays the child role because it contains the primary information of the view.
