Catalog Layer command

Command: AFM_CATLAYER

How to access this command: Select Catalog Layer from the Synchronization group on the Ribbon toolbar, or run this command from the command line.

Purpose: The Catalog Layers command registers or reregisters with the database all asset symbols on the current asset layer, as well as any items on the corresponding prototype and asset text layers.

Before using this command, set the asset layer whose items you want to catalog as the drawing's current layer. Issue this command, and it catalogs all asset symbols located on the asset layer and its corresponding asset text and prototype layers.

When to Use this Command

Whereas the Catalog command catalogs selected asset symbols, this command catalogs all asset symbols located on the current asset layer's prototype, asset text, and asset symbol layers.

This command is useful for:

Cataloging layers whose asset symbols were changed in AutoCAD (outside of the ARCHIBUS Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD or the DWG Editor), such as updating the areas of rooms whose polylines you stretched using AutoCAD commands.
Note: If you are running the ARCHIBUS Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD or the DWG Editor, the programs automatically catalog drawing edits made with AutoCAD commands in the database and there is no need to run this command.
If you use the System Administration/ARCHIBUS System Administration/Add-In Manager/Edit Asset Text task to change the fields to be displayed as asset text, you must regenerate the asset text in order for existing asset symbols to reflect your changes. This command regenerates asset text for all asset symbols on the current layer.
