Use this task to document the types of voice or data jacks used within your organization. Developing standards and associating them with jack records facilitates updating and tracking your jacks data.
Jack Standard -- Enter a unique name to identify the standard, such as RJ11VOICE to identify a jack standard that uses an RJ11 connector and is used for voice communication.
Std Telecom Service Type-- Choose "data" or "voice" from the list box field.
Jack Standard Description -- Enter a description, such as "IBM standard data jack."
Drawing Block -- Enter the name of the block that represents the standard and is used for asset inserting or populating jacks to rooms. The block you reference can be either a unit block or a full scale block. It is important that you enter drawing block information if you are planning on asset inserting jacks in CAD drawings.
Connector Type Enter the connector type, such as RJ45 or IBM.
Cable Standard Enter the type of cables that typically connect to jacks of this standard. Validated by the Cable Standards table. Although you specify a cable standard with this option, the program does not prevent you from connecting jacks to cables whose standards differ from this standard.
Std Hierarchy Level Specify the telecom hierarchy level for the standard.
