Incidents Map

With the ARCHIBUS mapping function, you can view the geographic dispersion of incidents by examining a map on which symbols indicating an incident location are superimposed.

By viewing a map you can quickly discern any geographic commonalities in incident data. For example, the incident map makes it clear if a particular facility or geography is experiencing an unusually high number of incidents.Or, perhaps areas surrounding your sites, such as flooding rivers, are responsible for workplace mishaps.

Once you examine the map, you can optionally generate a list of incidents by location and then drill down to details on the specific incidents.

To view an incident map and drill down to location details:

  1. In the Process Navigator, select the Management Reports / Incident Map task.
  2. The system displays a hierarchical list of locations in the left pane and a map of the world in the right pane.
  3. In the left pane, select one or more locations by clicking their check boxes, expanding nodes as necessary to find the locations you want. For example, to see all locations with incidents, select the top-level check box, World.
  4. Click Show Selected.
  5. At each location with an incident, the system superimposes symbols representing the number of incidents that occurred at building in that location.
  1. Mouse-over an incident symbol on the map to view summary information about the incidents in this building.
  2. To drill down from the map to a floor plan showing the location of the incident, click on an incident symbol on the map.
  3. The Incidents Floor Plan form opens. From here, you can select a floor; the system displays its floor plan and highlights the rooms that have incidents.

To view incident details by selected location:

  1. View an incident map containing incident symbols as described above.
  2. The system displays the map with symbols in the locations in which incidents occurred.
  3. Select the Selected Locations tab.
  4. The system displays a list of incidents associated with the selected locations in the right pane. You can export this list to XLS or DOCX if you wish.

  5. In the list of incidents, click on an incident.
  6. The Incident Details window opens displaying detailed information about the selected incident and related work restrictions, witnesses, and training. From here, you can view incident details and generate the OSHA Accident (Form 301) report.
