A facility for connecting two cable runs. A cross-connect includes the connecting hardware and their patch cords or jumpers. For example, a horizontal cross-connect connects the run from a workstation’s telephone and the run from the telephone company through the main cross-connect or distribution frame. The actual connection is usually made through patch cords or jumpers that attach to mechanical terminations at each end.
With the default schema of the ARCHIBUS Telecom domain, you can specify the cross-connect level of a telecom device as Horizontal, Intermediate, Main, or N/A.
