view

When you select a task from the Process Navigator, the Dashboard (Web Central), or the My Favorites List (Web Central), the task runs a view.

Views are a window into the data repository and present dynamic reports and forms that are generated on-the-fly from the ARCHIBUS data repository.

Views determine the information presented at one time, such as:

• the database tables to present
• the fields within a table to present
• if only records meeting a certain restriction should be presented
• the order in which to present database records
• if the data should be presented as a grid or an edit form
• if business charts should be displayed

Views can also:

• display associated drawings or activate a drawing tool
• display analysis highlights in drawings
• calculate data
• update database fields

• display drill-down tables and charts with summary data. By simply clicking on an area in a table or chart, you can drill-down to obtain the detailed contributing data.

In ARCHIBUS Smart Client and Web Central, views are written in XML (.axvw files) and are 2.0 rich-interface views.
