Select the Review Understocked Parts task to see a listing of understocked parts. Use this report to order new parts to keep your inventory well stocked. Note that the Understocked Parts report shows all parts whose Minimum To Store exceeds Quantity Available. The report does not consider the Quantity Understocked field.
If a shortage of parts occurs, work needs to be placed on hold, resulting in inconvenience and possibly reduced productivity for the site. If you are a manufacturing site, you should particularly monitor the parts inventory for production equipment.
Before examining the data of this report, it is good practice to run the Update Inventory Usage calculation (by choosing this button in the upper right corner of the report) so that you can be sure that the part cost and quantity data is up-to-date.
Note: On the Process Navigator, you can also access the Understocked Parts report by choosing it from the Operational Reports process of the On Demand application and the Preventive Maintenance application.
Suppose a work request is held in the Estimation step because a part is not in stock (this is the step in which parts are initially assigned), and subsequently enough of the part quantity is received. To update the work request, the supervisor can click Edit next to the part assignment and then click Save on the pop-up; the system will look up the inventory again and adjust the status of the assignment. In this way, the Supervisor can manually adjust the part assignment status.
