Saving Customized Views to Your Favorites List

The View/Save command enables you to save grid views that you have customized to your list of Favorites which preserves the original view. You use the View/Save command after customizing the view using the Views tab and the View/Fields command. See Creating New Grid Views for steps to customizing grid views.

To save a view:

  1. From the customized grid view, select View/Save from the Ribbon.

The Save View Definition dialog appears.

    Save View Definition dialog

  2. To save a copy of the view to your Favorites:
    1. Select the Save to Favorites check box.
    2. Change the File Name but keep the .axvw extension.

Note: You should not save a view with the format ab-[tableName]-gd-dflt.axvw unless you want that view to become the default view for the table named within the file name. Any AXVW that the server can find with the format ab-[tableName]-gd-dflt.axvw will be used to determine the columns when adding the table [tableName] to the grid from the Views tab.

    3. Select the Application and Process or Role. These selections determine the application folder the file is stored in.
    4. Click Save. This action makes a copy of the .axvw in the schema\per-site\ area.
    5. Sign out and sign back in to see the view listed in your favorites list.

To change the default view, see Adding Default Smart Client Grid Views.
