ARCHIBUS Smart Client

Creating New Grid Views

You can use the Views tab to create new grid views by selecting the fields to include in the view, or by adding tables to the view.

You can create ad hoc views for reviewing the data in any table or the schema underlying the table, as was done using the Show Structure command in the ARCHIBUS Client/Server application. Or, after customizing the view, you can create a copy of the new view by saving the view to your Favorites list.

To create new grid views:

  1. From the Explorer panel, select the Views tab.
  2. Select the main table for the view by clicking the row header for the table in the list. If needed, use the filter row to restrict the list. See Searching for Records Using the Filter Row.
  3. Click Add at the top of the Views panel.

The grid displays the selected table with a default set of fields.See Adding Default Views for Smart Client Views for more information on how the default fields are determined.

  4. If needed, use the following commands to customize the view:

  1. Optionally, select a second table by double clicking the table in the list. The table list is restricted to show only those tables that can be related to the first table selected.

To guide you selections, the list indicates whether the table is used as a standard table or a child table.

  1. If needed, customize the fields for the second table using the commands in the above table.
  2. Optionally, select a third table by double-clicking the table in the list. If a child table was selected as the second table, the list of tables includes only tables that can be related to that child table.
  1. If needed, customize the fields for the third table using the commands in the above table.

If you want to save the view, see Saving Customized Views to Your Favorites List.
