Define Room Standards

Note: This topic focuses on the tasks of the Space Inventory & Performance application. However, help topics for other ARCHIBUS applications may link to this topic. If you are creating a simple room inventory for use with processes other than those in Space Inventory & Performance, you may not wish to complete all of these fields.

Room Standards classify rooms in terms of their design and intended use. For example, the sample HQ project uses the following room standards: LAB-A, LAB-B, OFF-10X24, OFF-A, OFF-B, and OFF-EXEC, with each of these records storing the room dimensions and intended capacity.

Since it holds standard area, length, and width data, Room Standards record the defined room dimensions (footprints of spatial configurations) for a facility.

Room standards are independent of room categories and room types. Whereas room categories and room types focus on function and whether or not a room is occupiable by personnel and is part of the floor's usable area, room standards focus on the size of the room and capacity. Room standards can by used by CAD specialists to depict rooms on floor plan drawings by using the ARCHIBUS asset inserting routine.
