Area Fields for Portfolio Forecasting

The Portfolio Forecasting application enables you to use area based on your CAD inventory if one exist, or to enter a manual area if needed. The following information describes the floor and group areas you can work with.

Floor Manual Area or Floor Usable Area

The Portfolio Forecasting process uses two areas for floors.

It is essential to identify either the Floor Usable (from CAD) or the Floor Manual Area for the following reasons:

Note: If the Usable Area is available and computed from the Space Inventory, the system will not use the Manual Area. If the floor’s Usable Area is 0, the system will always use the floor’s Manual Area.

To enter the Manual Area of a floor, go to the Select Floor tab of the Portfolio Forecast Wizard and click either the Edit button to edit an existing floor, or the Add Floor button to add a new floor. See Select Floor Tab.

Group Manual Area or Group CAD Area

The Group Manual Area is the area of a group that is created in the Portfolio Forecast Wizard and not in CAD.

To enter the area you can:

See Allocate Groups Tab.

The Group CAD Area is the area of a group that is created in AutoCAD.

For more detail about entering groups in CAD and integrating them with Portfolio Forecasting see Starting in CAD.

Note: If you have a CAD Area for a group from your inventory, then the Manual Area for the group should be 0. For this reason, the % of Floor and the Apply Headcount action buttons are not available if you have a CAD area for the group. These buttons are used to calculate the Manual Area.
