As a CAD specialist, you may be tasked with depicting in CAD drawings the various areas of your facility. You may need to add these types of asset symbols to your floor plan drawings:
Typically, before you depict areas in CAD drawings and connect these areas to database records, others at your site have developed background data about your facility, such as the names of buildings and floors, and the departments that use floor areas.
In addition to floor plan drawings, you may want to document your site or campus on a site plan.
In ARCHIBUS, you depict a floor area in a CAD drawing with a polyline, and then assign this polyline intelligence, which connect it to a database record. An intelligent polyline linked to a database record is known as an asset symbol. For information on developing ARCHIBUS asset symbols, see: Asset Symbols: Overview.
